On September 23, friends, supporters and community partners came together for Boots & Bourbon: Country for a Cause — an unforgettable evening benefiting the Olivia Chan Foundation.

Hosted in partnership with Alex Wicks, BizHaven and WorkWise Compliance, the evening brought people together around a shared purpose: helping grieving children, teens and families know they do not have to navigate loss alone.

The event featured live music, bourbon tasting, food and cocktails, a silent auction, photo booth, mystery cork pull and plenty of opportunities to connect.

But beyond the music, food and festivities, the evening was about something much bigger.

It was about community showing up for families when they need it most.

Turning Support Into Lasting Impact

The Olivia Chan Foundation was created from unimaginable loss, but also from the belief that grief does not have to be faced alone.

Our mission is to provide a compassionate community where children, teens, young adults and their families can grieve in ways that feel safe and meaningful — through peer support, creative expression, play and connection with others who understand.

Through this year’s Capital Cup campaign, Alex Wicks’ fundraising efforts have generated more than $42,000 in support for the Olivia Chan Foundation.

That generosity moves us closer to a much larger vision: expanding the support available to grieving families throughout the Sacramento region and, ultimately, creating a permanent grief support center where families can find community, resources and hope throughout their journey.

Thank You to Alex, BizHaven & WorkWise Compliance

We are incredibly grateful to Alex Wicks for choosing to represent the Olivia Chan Foundation through the 2026 Capital Cup and for bringing so many people into our mission.

Alex, the BizHaven team and WorkWise Compliance didn’t simply organize a fundraiser. They invited their clients, colleagues, partners and friends to learn about childhood grief, understand the need within our community and become part of something that can create lasting change.

Their commitment extends beyond a single event. The kind of long-term community partnership they demonstrated is what makes this work possible.

Thank You to Our Boots & Bourbon Sponsors

An event like Boots & Bourbon happens because businesses and community leaders choose to step forward.

We are deeply grateful to the organizations that sponsored the evening and helped turn an idea into an experience that brought our community together:

To every sponsor: thank you for lending your name, resources and support to this mission. Your generosity allows the Olivia Chan Foundation to continue building spaces where grieving families can feel understood, supported and connected.

And to everyone who purchased a ticket, donated, participated in the silent auction, raised a glass, shared our story or simply spent the evening learning more about Olivia and our work — thank you.

Olivia’s Light Continues

Olivia taught us so much about joy, kindness and showing up for the people around us.

Every gathering like Boots & Bourbon gives us another opportunity to carry that spirit forward.

What began with one family searching for support has grown into a community determined to make sure other families don’t have to search alone.

And we’re just getting started.

Help. Honor. Heal.
