On Saturday, June 7, we gathered with over 150 friends, family members, community leaders, and supporters at Movement Brewing Co. in Rancho Cordova for our second annual Brewing Hope—and what a powerful night it was.

Surrounded by laughter, music, heartfelt speeches, and a shared purpose, we came together to honor Olivia’s legacy and raise critical support for grieving children and families in our region.

A Night Full of Highlights

The evening began with warm welcomes, craft beer, and a beautiful gathering of community. After opening remarks from our team, we took a moment to reflect on the year behind us and the path ahead—including our vision of creating a grief center right here in Sacramento.

We were honored to be joined by several incredible guests and speakers:

  • Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, who not only shared powerful, personal words about motherhood and grief, but surprised us all by donating an additional $5,000 to support our mission—on top of her previous pledge.

  • Pastor Dan of Greenhaven Neighborhood Church, who opened the evening with a message of unity, healing, and compassion.

  • Austin Busch Estrada, representing District 1 and Councilmember Lisa Kaplan’s office, who presented the Olivia Chan Foundation with an official Certificate of Recognition for our work in the community.

  • Erin Nelson, Executive Director of Jessica’s House, whose heartfelt speech reminded us of what’s possible when a community comes together to create a safe space for grief. Jessica’s House is a living example of what we aspire to build—right here in Sacramento.

Music That Moved Us

The night’s performances were unforgettable:

  • Juliette Leong, a 9-year-old violinist, artist, mathlete, and philanthropist, stunned the crowd with a stirring tribute to Olivia, performing two of her favorite songs—one of which she learned just weeks before the event.

  • Peter Kett and Nic Chan delivered a touching rendition of Tears in Heaven on guitar, honoring those we’ve lost and the loved ones they’ve left behind.

Impact Made Possible by You

With your support, Brewing Hope 2025 raised nearly $20,000 through ticket sales, donations, auction bids, and merchandise—funds that will directly support:

  • Peer-to-peer grief support groups

  • Family healing programming

  • Our long-term vision of building a permanent grief center in Sacramento
